Ka-pow! Graphic Novel Exhibition
October 24th- December 10th
The Merrill-Cazier Library is presenting Ka-pow! Graphic Novels, an exhibition on graphic novels used in academia. It will be shown in the atrium of the Merrill-Cazier Library from Oct. 24 through Dec. 10. A formal opening reception is Thursday, Nov. 10, at 4 p.m. in room 101 of the Library where several USU professors will discuss the use of graphic novels in their current classroom curriculum.
  
Starting Small Art Exhibit

Collected by old and new, 'Starting Small' showcases USU student collections curated by current students. The exhibit illustrates the diversity of art and its collection through the eyes of independent students. Four Utah State students, Trissta Lyman, Megan Mitchell, Brady Mathews and Megan Evans, are curating the exhibit and gathering artwork from other student’s private collections. An opening reception will be held Nov. 11 from 5-7 p.m. in the Tippetts Exhibit Hall.

Airplanes for Africa

Think you have the best paper airplane? Come compete for sweet prizes such as a helicopter ride. All you have to do is pay $1 for your paper airplane. All funds raised will go towards helping people in Uganda and Ghana start their own small business with micro loans.

Stuff-A-Bus Blitz Night

Meet at the south end the Stadium parking lot ready to collect food in the community. Enjoy some hot cocoa before we depart and be ready to knock doors and feel the warm feeling of service! We need tons of volunteers to bring friends!

USU Guitar Ensembles in Concert

$10 general admission, $8 seniors and youth, $5 USU faculty and staff, free for USU students
Acoustic and electric guitars combine forces for the USU Guitar Ensembles Concert. The larger acoustic ensemble, affectionately called 'Guitarmageddon,' has 35 members comprised of music and non-music majors. The smaller acoustic ensemble is comprised of guitar majors. All of the music for the concert has been specifically written or arranged for multiple guitars. 'Some of the pieces contain traditional guitar sounds blending with interesting sound effects produced on the instrument,' said Mike Christiansen, director of the guitar program for the Caine College of the Arts at USU. *25 percent discount on 4 or more adult tickets.

Cache Shoes 4 Kids

We are heading up a project to help the disadvantaged youth in Cache county and Smithfield School Districts who cannot afford a pair of shoes,to get a new pair. The project is called "Cache Shoes 4 Kids" and is being held in conjunction with Payless shoesource. This time of year we are mindful of families who lack the resources for the basic needs: a good,durable pair of shoes. We ask that you find in your pocketbook to make a small donation to this great cause. We will start collecting donations now unitl Friday,December 17th. There will be donation cans throughout the community, or checks can be mailed directly to Cache shoes 4 kids and mailed to 40 W. Cache Valley Blvd. # 10 A Logan, Utah 84321. Also, donations are also being collected directly at Cache Valley Bank at both thier locations and the payless Store at 2105 N. Main in Logan.

Logan High School presents “Once Upon a Mattress” – TONITE(Friday), Saturday, Monday & Tuesday nights. Curtain time is 730 p.m. in the Logan High School auditorium. Based on the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale, “The Princess and the Pea”, Once Upon a Mattress opened on Broadway in 1959 and marked the Broadway debut of Carol Burnett as Winnifred and was revived in 1996 starring Sarah Jessica Parker. Advanced reserve tickets can be purchased online at www.lhs.loganschools.org for $7/adults and $5 for children. Reserved tickets purchased at the door are $8 dollars/adults and $6/children. General admission will also be available at the door.

This is an annual arts and crafts fair held over Thanksgiving weekend. 2011 marks our 28th year! Local talented vendors as well as some from out-of-state, gather to offer the finest wares of which many are hand-crafted. Some very popular items that can be seen are jewelry, purses, clothing, hair accessories, crocheted hats, lotions, soaps, scrapbooking supplies, fine art, framed temple and landscape pictures, baby blankets, woodworking, kitchen and cooking necessities. There will also be Christmas wreaths, ornaments and decorations. You won't want to miss the yummy bakery items, homemade candy and the full lunch menu offered. Local singing and dancing groups perform throughout both days which helps lend to the fun atmosphere.
